Year 3 Week 6: Step Back in Time for Stone Age Day

Year 3 had an unforgettable day travelling back thousands of years to the Stone Age! The children fully immersed themselves in history through a range of exciting, hands-on activities that brought prehistoric life to life.

The day began with the children becoming early toolmakers, carefully crafting their own Stone Age axes using a variety of materials. They showed fantastic creativity and problem-solving skills as they explored how early humans designed tools for survival.

Next, the outdoor area was transformed into a prehistoric landscape as pupils worked together to build camps. Using natural materials, they collaborated brilliantly to create shelters, thinking carefully about structure and protection—just like Stone Age communities would have done.

One of the highlights of the day was creating cave paintings. Inspired by ancient artwork, the children used earthy tones and natural textures to design their own images, telling stories through symbols and pictures just as early humans once did.

It was a fantastic day of learning, creativity, and teamwork. Year 3 should be incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and effort as they explored life in the Stone Age!
