Feeling Safe in School - Pupil Voice

Children should feel safe in school so they can learn confidently, build positive relationships, and support their emotional wellbeing. Giving pupils a voice on staying safe helps them feel listened to, encourages trust, and allows schools to better understand and respond to children’s needs and concerns. Miss Phillips met with some children from KS1 and KS2 this week to talk about staying and feeling safe in school. Here are a few responses.

  • I feel safe in school because we have the Ready, Respectful and Safe rule.
  • We are given e-safety lessons in school to keep us safe.
  • School teachers us about how to stay safe in the water. I know the different coloured flags mean.
  • If I was worried about a friend I would look for them on the yard and ask them if they are ok.
  • The new sensory circuits in class help me feel calm and safe – I like the palm push.
  • A good friend should comfort you and also be a bit silly with you sometimes.
  • We have test fire alarms to keep us safe.
