Week 4 Reception - Chicks and Caterpillars
The highlight of this week was undoubtedly the arrival of our chicks, who have finally hatched. The children were fascinated watching them emerge from their eggs and are enjoying observing them as they gather together under the heat lamp.
Inspired by The Woolly Bear Caterpillar, we explored the many different kinds of caterpillars and moths. The children enjoyed discussing the similarities and differences of the caterpillars’ features and imagined their own creatures in their Literacy task.
Prompted by butterflies, children learnt about symmetrical patterns using paint and by tessellating shapes.
We also had great fun during our dance lesson with Miss Natasha, where the children moved creatively and confidently to music while developing coordination and rhythm.
In Maths, we continued developing our understanding of teen numbers by spotting errors in sequencing patterns and building numbers using “ten and …” with Numicon.
