Water Safety

As part of Careers Week, Nursery and Reception enjoyed a visit from Heather Bell to learn about water safety on our seas and rivers. 

They learnt about the careful planning and preparation required for heading out on the water, from helmets and buoyancy aids, to maps, first aid kits, radios, dry bags, throw lines and more.

They enjoyed looking at photos of how Heather had taken her water skills into other areas of her career, e.g. sea kayaking in the arctic and sailing on the Tall Ships. 

After the visit, Reception made water safety posters. We have also used the RNLI resources to become ‘Water Heroes’.
