Tyne Rivers Trust Visit
As part of our Rivers unit, Year 4 visited the Queen’s Hall for a workshop led by the Tyne Rivers Trust. We explored their interactive model of the River Tyne, tracing its journey from the sources of the North and South Tyne to the mouth at the North Sea. The children observed how rainwater flows across different types of land, discovered some of the protected species that live in and around the river, and experimented with different flood-management solutions. They explored how natural features, such as trees and barriers, can slow the flow of water, reduce flooding and help protect wildlife and improve river habitats. The children were really engaged and gave some excellent answers!
