Week 4: Stepping into the Story: Jesus’s Baptism Brought to Life

This week in RE, our pupils have been learning about the baptism of Jesus and why it is such an important event for Christians. The children explored the story from the Bible, discussing its meaning and thinking carefully about the symbols involved, such as water, the dove, and God’s voice.

To bring the story to life, pupils took part in a creative role play activity. They worked in groups to reenact the baptism, taking on roles such as Jesus, John the Baptist, and members of the crowd. This hands-on approach helped the children to deepen their understanding and reflect on the emotions and significance of the moment.

The classroom was full of thoughtful discussion, teamwork, and imagination. Pupils showed great respect while exploring the religious meaning behind the story and made excellent connections to ideas about belonging, commitment, and new beginnings.
