This week in Year 2...

In Design and Technology, children designed and created their own traditional tale finger puppets by selecting characters, sketching designs, and using a variety of coloured felt to bring them to life. They then evaluated their puppets by discussing what worked well and what they would improve next time.

During Music rotations, Year 2 explored the concept of pitch, learning to recognise the difference between high and low sounds. The children listened to a range of instruments and identified how each one created either a high or low pitch.

Building on this understanding, the children then became composers, using patterned dots to create their own short pieces of music. After some rehearsal time, they took to the classroom stage and performed their compositions on the xylophone. Each child followed their own musical patterns with care and confidence, showcasing their developing musical skills.

It was a wonderful week of listening, composing, and performing – well done to all our budding musicians in Year 2!
