Year 4: Rosh Hashanah Interactive Broadcast

On September 16th, Y4 took part in a live interactive Zoom call with the Jewish Museum of London. Sele First School came together with lots of other schools from across the UK to discuss Rosh Hashanah. Rosh Hashanah is a Hebrew term meaning 'Head of the Year' and is when Jewish people celebrate New Year. After learning a little bit about Rosh Hashanah last week in our RE lessons, children were excited to spot some of the artefacts and images that they already knew about from their lesson.

Children explored what Rosh Hashanah feels like as a celebration. Using their senses, the imagined different sights, sounds, feelings and tastes that Jewish people experience during the festival. Hannah our presenter showed the children lots of images that encouraged rich discussions and comparisons between Judaism and their own beliefs and traditions.
