Reception's People Who Help Us

This half term, Reception are learning about People Who Help Us - from vets to doctors, paramedics to police, firefighters and more. This week they enjoyed playing medical staff, helping each other by taking notes, giving medicine and learning about Awesome Ambulances.
After revisiting ways to make 5 to develop their quick recall last week, children investigated 1 more than in Maths this week. They used the staircase pattern to provide a visual and physical representation, demonstrating that every number in a sequence is formed by adding one to the preceding number. Children also played hide and find the missing number in a sequence, using their understanding of 1 more than to identify which number was missing.
