Dinosaurs in Reception and World Book Day
Week 2 of Dinosaurs in Reception involved classifying dinosaurs according to what they ate, noticing the characteristics of carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. Children used their knowledge and creativity to identify and explain why a dinosaur was the ‘Odd One Out’. Reasons included, it runs on 4 legs, it eats meat and it is a reptile.
Our Maths focus was ‘how to make 8’. Children are developing increasingly quick recall of their number bonds to 8 through games and activities across the provision.
World Book Day as ever was great fun, with lots of brilliant characters. Children enjoyed creating mixed up fairytales, the sillier the better!
Reception continue to enjoy free flow exploring in the afternoons, playing across the year group with friends in the outdoor courtyard and 2 Reception classrooms.
