Week 8: Wood You Believe It? EGGER Visits Year 3!
To finish our half term in style, Year 3 were visited by representatives from EGGER, our local manufacturing company in Hexham. The visitors explained how EGGER turns wood into a range of useful products, such as chipboard and furniture panels, which are used in homes, schools, and workplaces all over the UK.
The children learned about the different stages of production, from the arrival of raw timber to the final finished products, and discovered how EGGER carefully manages its materials to be environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Pupils were especially excited to see real product samples and ask questions about the machines, jobs, and skills involved in running a modern factory. The visit helped bring our Geography topic—“From Forest to Factory”—to life!
We’d like to say a huge thank you to EGGER for their time and for inspiring our future engineers, designers, and sustainability champions. What a brilliant way to end the half term!
