Reading Rangers

As part of the Personal Development curriculum children have the opportunity to put themselves forward for a leadership role.

Our Reading Rangers are an enthusiastic group of children across years 3 and 4. The Reading Rangers are eager to share their love of reading, promote favourite authors and recommend tried and tested stories to their peers. They have opportunities to inspire the younger children within Sele First through organised storytime visits to EYFS and KS1.

The Reading Rangers meet fortnightly with Mrs Horne and Mrs Harlow to plan how to further promote a love of reading and share our favourite reads to date.

The Reading Rangers work closely with our local independent bookshop ‘Cogito’ having meetings, planning and ordering books for our school libraries.

Reader Ranger Roles:

* Encourage others in their class and across the whole school to read for pleasure.

* Share book reviews and recommendations with their classes.

* Deliver weekly storytelling sessions to EYFS, Y1 and Y2.

* Monitor libraries termly at KS2.

* Help create displays to promote reading within school.

* Work with our local bookshop, Cogito to plan whole school reading events including World Book Day.

* Engage with a range of texts within our school library and share recommendations.
