Our Governors

Governors invest a huge amount of good will and hard work in our education system.

At Sele First School they focus their efforts on what really matters – improving education for every child who attends. They are the key strategic decision makers and vision setters in school and they are a key part of the overall system for school accountability. They monitor school and pupil performance and ensure that resources are used well to give every child the best possible education.

Governors:

• Ask challenging questions.
• Press for improvement.
• Are responsible for ensuring that monitoring and evaluation take place.
• Promote the interests of the school and pupils.

Each term at least two Governors complete at least one extended visit to the school to look at teaching in a particular area. They produce a Governor Visit Report. Copies of these can be found on this site. In addition Governors are members of at least one committee. Our committee structure ensures that all aspects of school life are covered. Committees include:

• Resources (Staffing and Finance)
• Standards and Curriculum (Attainment and Teaching)
• Premises (including Safeguarding and Health and Safety)

Finally Governors meet altogether once each term to review the work of each Committee, receive the Head Teacher’s Report and finally to allocate business to each of the committees.
