Friday 8 May 2026 Feeling Safe in School - Pupil Voice Children should feel safe in school so they can learn confidently, build positive relationships, and support their emotional wellbeing. Giving pupils a voice on staying safe helps them feel listened to, encourages trust, and allows schools to better understand and respond to children's needs and concerns. Miss Phillips met with some children from KS1 and KS2 this week to talk about staying and feeling safe in school. Here are a few responses.

Friday 1 May 2026 Week 2 Reception- Bees This week in Reception, we have looked at bees! In our books we have written different the facts we have learnt about bees. On the creative table, we have drawn a range of different plants using step by step instructions focussing on different techniques. We have also created our very own moving bee puppets with bright colourful backgrounds.

Wednesday 29 April 2026 Year 3 Sunflower Day 2026 Today, Year 3 embraced the beauty of nature as we celebrated Sunflower Day! Using a wonderful collection of garden materials, the children worked creatively to design and build their own unique sunflowers. From petals made of leaves and bark to centres crafted from seeds and soil, every piece was a reflection of their imagination and teamwork.

They gently separated each part, observing textures, structures, and patterns. The activity helped bring science to life, transforming abstract ideas into real, tangible learning.

Friday 24 April 2026 Week 1- Chicks and Dance What a first week back in Reception! Miss Natasha came back into school on Wednesday for more dance lessons. With it being Earth Day, we looked at different movements and ways to move our body. We travelled around the room using ribbons and moved our arms in different motions to replicate a bird flying. We then used our imagination and moved our body to make different shapes as we pretended to be flowers, some were tall, some were small.

Thursday 23 April 2026 Intergenerational Project with Chrysalis Tynedale A huge thank you to Chrysalis Tynedale for inviting us to be part of their Intergenerational Project. For the next 5 weeks, 6 children from Year 4 will be working with members who have dementia in a range of activities.

Thursday 26 March 2026 Habitat Mapping - Completing the Project with the RHS The Eco Warriors enjoyed habitat mapping our school grounds with Jane Pollinger from the RHS to support regional and national biodiversity research. They identified permeable and non-permeable ground, mapped flower beds, broadleaf trees, water butts, compost bins and fences. Jane then showed them how to map this data onto a digital map using GIS skills. The highlight of the afternoon was spotting a buff tail Queen bee!

Friday 20 March 2026 Week 4: Stepping into the Story: Jesus’s Baptism Brought to Life This week in RE, our pupils have been learning about the baptism of Jesus and why it is such an important event for Christians. The children explored the story from the Bible, discussing its meaning and thinking carefully about the symbols involved, such as water, the dove, and God's voice.

Thursday 5 March 2026 Dinosaurs in Reception and World Book Day Week 2 of Dinosaurs in Reception involved classifying dinosaurs according to what they ate, noticing the characteristics of carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. Children used their knowledge and creativity to identify and explain why a dinosaur was the ‘Odd One Out'. Reasons included, it runs on 4 legs, it eats meat and it is a reptile.

Friday 27 February 2026 Dinosaurs in Reception Our topic this half term is Fantastic Beasts! This week, we started with dinosaurs. Children created their own dinosaur riddles, thinking carefully about how to describe a dinosaur without revealing its name. They also explored dinosaur silhouettes, identifying key features from outlines.

Friday 13 February 2026 Reception Rescued Supertato! What a finish to our STEM in Reception! Model building was in full swing, utilising the skills children learnt last week. With a range of DT joins and 3D shapes, children made jet skis, hot air balloons, underwater bikes, aeroplanes, rockets and much more. There were so many creative additions to help rescue Supertato, from special buttons and handlebars, to ladders, nets, slides and secret gates! Thank you to Zoolab and Professor Brainstorm too for bringing Science to life!

Friday 30 January 2026 Year 3 Week 4: Magnet Magic Today in science, our class became magnet investigators as we tested how strong different magnets are. We carried out an exciting experiment to see how far away a magnet could be and still pick up a paper clip.
